The climate of Dubai is mostly warm and sunny. The winter is short with an average daytime temperature of 25 °C. Rainfall is infrequent, falling only during the winter months between December and March.

Local Language

The official language of the UAE is Arabic. However, English is widely spoken and most shops, hotels and commercial businesses deal with their clients in English.

Car Rental

Car hire companies are aplenty in Dubai. Driving is perhaps the best means of exploring the city if you have your passport and a valid international driving license or a temporary local license for car rental.

Getting Around

Bus – The highly structured public bus transport system in Dubai is managed by the RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) and provides a relatively cheap mode of getting around. The payment is made through RTA’s Nol Card.

Taxi – The taxi service in Dubai is quite extensive, licensed by the RTA and operated both by the government and privately owned companies. You have the option to choose from standard taxi, airport taxi, ladies taxi and more. For booking and information, contact Dubai Taxi on +971 04 2080808.

Metro – Dubai Metro is one of the most advanced public transport systems in the world featuring fully automated trains. It currently operates in two lines – Red line and Green line – and covers all major residential and commercial areas of the city.

Palm Jumeirah Monorail – The Palm Jumeirah monorail is an automatic train that connects The Palm to the mainland. It operates from 10am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Walking – Even though the summer temperatures don’t allow for much exploration on foot, walking is the best way to explore the traditional souks and museums in old Dubai as well as several other places in the city.

Abra, Water Bus & Water Taxi – Abras are traditional wooden boats that ferry passengers across the Dubai Creek. They run every few minutes and have a nominal fare of AED1 per trip.Water Taxis are luxurious boats for private hiring and operate from all Water Taxi stations across the Dubai waterways.
